We are proud to announce our annual Lori C. Pemberton Memorial Scholarship. This $2,000 scholarship is available to one talented high school senior who lives in New York City.

This scholarship honors the legacy of Lori C. Pemberton, a founding board member of The Five Pearls Foundation and a life member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Her legacy is one of commitment to service and making a positive impact on the lives of others, especially our youth. The Five Pearls Foundation is a public charity created to do its part to address ills that affect underserved communities, specifically poor health, limited access to quality education, and an unrealized understanding of their place in the world and the possibilities that exist for each individual.

We hope to encourage and support one young woman or man of color who:
  • Is a graduating high school senior;
  • Has an overall GPA of 3.0 or 80% and above;
  • Will be attending a four-year accredited College/University;
  • Will be enrolled as a full-time student in the fall semester of 2024; and
  • Has demonstrated her/his concern for her school and her community through volunteer service, involvement in clubs, and other associations.

The scholarship will be awarded in four parts and will be used specifically for academic pursuits. The student will receive $500 each semester, totaling no more than $2,000 for the freshman and sophomore years in college. The recipient must continue full-time status and be in good standing with their academic institution or forfeit the scholarship award.

The applicant must submit a complete application using the online application and recommendation forms, and do not forget to e-mail your transcript. Transcripts can be e-mailed to The application will not be considered complete until all materials have been received. Once the recipient of the scholarship has been determined, she/he will need to provide a copy of the bursar’s receipt in order to receive the scholarship award.

All applications and recommendations must be submitted online no later than April 15, 2024.
