At a time when history is being selectively rewritten, restricted in classrooms, and discouraged in public discourse, we affirm our responsibility to safeguard our cultural narratives. We reject attempts to whitewash history and deny future generations an accurate understanding of the past and its relevance to the present. In alignment with our mission, the Five Pearls Foundation will launch and support literacy and educational initiatives that uplift the authentic stories of African-descended people.
Through book drives, community discussions, storytelling programs, and partnerships with educators, libraries, cultural institutions, and global communities, we will ensure continued access to knowledge that empowers, informs, and inspires. We support and collaborate with organizations and leaders who share our commitment to truth, cultural preservation, and educational equity—both within our local communities and across the African diaspora. Our work reflects our enduring belief: when we honor our history, we honor our humanity, strengthen our identity, and build a more just and informed world.
We are currently hosting a book drive for Nevis to create a comprehensive children’s library! We would love for our community to contribute by donating new or gently used books for us to send to the Nevis Public Library in Charlestown, Nevis.
In support of our literacy initiative, we implore you to purchase books from a local, black owned book shop, Sisters Uptown Bookstore. They are located at 1942 Amsterdam Ave, open Tuesday through Saturday from 12pm-6pm. Their shop contains a plethora of works that we highly recommend you peruse!
If you’d like to donate, please fill out this form to be contacted regarding drop off and shipping information. All items should be delivered and dropped off by February 15th, 2026. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to sharing our community’s contributions with the youth!
